Introducing: The 2018 Honda Odyssey!
If you’ve got kids to transport to school, soccer games, or anywhere else, you owe it to them to take a look at the all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey. It’s the minivan, redefined, as Honda puts it. Car & Driver agrees, citing a “sense of verve behind the wheel [that’s] absent from most practicality-first vehicles.” In other words, it’s got some real pick-up-and-go, which makes it fun to drive — a first for the minivan genre, for sure!
Here’s all you need to know about this brand-new minivan marvel, which is now available for sale and lease at our Gainesville Honda dealership!
The Experts’ Take on the 2018 Honda Odyssey
Besides acknowledging the pep and “verve” of the Odyssey, Car & Driver reviewers also like the fact that 18-inch aluminum wheels — once an option — are now standard equipment on all 2018 Odyssey models.
Motor Trend’s test drive of the 2018 Odyssey involved a new twist: they invited a family (who has owned and driven minivans for nearly two decades) to help them judge the family-friendly features of the latest Odyssey. Their verdict? They loved just about everything available in the Odyssey:
- The extra headroom and legroom in the second and third rows—big thumbs-ups.
- The night-vision camera (CabinWatch) that allows the adults in the front seat to keep an eye on what’s going on in the second and third rows—parents loved it, of course.
- A “How Much Further?” feature, which lets the rear seat passengers (the ones that always ask that particular question) view where they’re at during the road trip—oh, yeah.
- A Blu-Ray player up front, HDMI port in the back, USB ports, and streaming over the in-car Wi-Fi network—what can’t it do?
They also like the fact that it has all the family-friendly features you could ask for, while actually being fun to drive! Honda engineers have loosened the Odyssey’s steering column and “cranked up the suspension,” allowing the minivan to take on imperfect roads with ease. Motor Trend’s reviewer agrees, noting that the Odyssey’s steering “has a very natural weight to it and responds linearly.”
A note of reassurance to those worried that the driving will be a little lame: the 2018 Odyssey “handles brilliantly” and can quickly “hustle around corners” without losing any grip at all. And just like Car & Driver, Motor Trend’s reviewer revels in the “dialed in” suspension. Also getting an honorable mention is the quietness of the ride even — as the reviewer notes — at freeway speeds.
The overall impression? The 2018 Honda Odyssey received accolades all-around!
All Guts & Glory: Breaking Down 2018 Odyssey Trims
The 2018 Honda Odyssey is available in five trims:
Each model has a 280-HP, 3.5L V-6 engine under the hood, multi-angle rearview camera, 8-way power driver’s seat, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Upgrade slightly to the LX, and you also get Honda Sensing — their exclusive suite of safety features that includes Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Honda’s trademarked Collision Mitigation Breaking System (CMBS), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). You’ll also get Honda’s Magic-Glide 2nd Row Seat, which not only moves forward and backward but also side-to-side!
At the Elite trim, the Odyssey is packed with every packaged feature and system, so ask our Gainesville Honda dealer sales team if the Odyssey Elite is right for your family.
