With front-wheel drive and a nine-speed automatic transmission, the Pilot gets a respectable EPA-estimated fuel economy of 20/27 MPG. Buyers who choose a trim with all-wheel drive get an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 19/26.
With all-wheel drive, the peppy engine can tow up to 5,000 pounds and with front-wheel drive, it can tow up to 3,500 pounds, when the vehicle is properly equipped with Honda towing accessories.
Along with a sport powertrain, the Pilot has plenty of room for passengers and gear. With three rows, the Pilot seats eight adults. The cargo space with all three rows in place is 16.5 cubic feet.

Honda offers five well-equipped Pilot trims, starting with the EX-L with seating for eight. This base trim includes heated, leather seats and a full suite of Honda driver-assist features.
It comes standard with front-wheel drive and has an available all-wheel drivetrain. Honda put 18-inch alloy wheels on the EX-L. All trims come with a one-touch power moonroof.
The middle trims include the Special Edition, Touring, and Elite. These trims also come with leather seating, while the Elite trim offers upgraded perforated leather. The Special Edition and Touring trims have seating for eight, while the Touring also offers buyers seating for seven.
The Elite trim has seating for seven. All three trims have a hands-free power liftgate. The Touring and Elite trims both have a rear entertainment system and a satellite-linked navigation system. The Touring and Elite trims have 20-inch Machine-Finished Alloy Wheels.
The top trim is the Black Edition, which is loaded with desirable features. It has seating for seven, perforated leather one-touch folding second-row captain’s chairs. Honda put 20-inch Gloss Black Alloy Wheels on the Special Edition and Black Edition trims. Buyers can add a panoramic moonroof to the Black Edition and the Elite trims.

The Black Edition also comes with a wireless phone charger. The top trims also come with Wi-Fi hotspot capability and Honda’s CabinTalk In-Car PA System to communicate with the rear passengers through headphones and speakers.
